(video) My Opening Statement in the Student Debate at Skepticon 2
Intro:
For those of you who don't wish to scour my lengthy review of Charlie Self's closing remarks on the pro debate, here's the video of my opening statement from the student debate.
I got great reviews from everyone and I'm amazed I nailed it so well. And by nailed it so well, I mean I like was able to string coherent sentences together in front of everyone. haha
My part starts at 6 minutes (the first guy is one of the theists, Martin Monacell):
Outro:Patrick Shawhan, right after the debate, said I got the Romans 3:8 quote wrong (as in backwards), but it seems he is mistaken.
I'm glad Rob Lehr is on top of this and cruising along in the editing and posting the videos. Thanks Rob!

The more I look back on the debates, the more I think the question, does God exist, is too broad a subject. Perhaps next year we should zero in on something more specific such as how does God exist, in or outside the universe. Getting specific is where theists seem to drop the ball, it requires that they be consistent in a small venue, where it will not lend itself to gross generalizations and irrelevancies.
D'oh, it gets cut off right at the end. Who should I blame for that? God?
@Da__Vinci - That was my immediate conclusion as well. Since both debates inevitably focused on qualia, why not plan to have an entire debate about qualia? The mind/body problem or physicalism vs. dualism would be a much more focused and relevant debate since it's an issue that often needs to be sorted out first these days.

@Jimbo1023 - You can blame incidence since Rob Lehr has 13 hours of HD footage to sort out and upload to youtube. He's not being very particular for the sake of expediency. The last half of my sentence is on the next video here.

@WAR_ON_ERROR - Thanks. I found it already. Good stuff. Not enough lame pop-culture references, but that just means I'll have to work twice as hard to make up for it.
@Jimbo1023 - lmao. I knew there was a reason we let you live, Jimbo.
